Background of the supplier management process
No
businesses can exist completely in isolation without support and
assistance from some form of suppliers. Suppliers can come in many
types, supplying all sorts of products of their own, from intellectual
support through to bespoke high level designed and manufactured
products.
Nearly
all businesses will need to be able to work with and manage their
suppliers in order to successfully deliver products and projects.
The supplier management process
The supplier management process
given in this training workshop describes the methods and deliverables
that should be followed by a business to ensure their suppliers carry
out the tasks required at the right time. The deliverables required to
manage suppliers are aligned to the activities and gateways described in
the product development process.
In essence these deliverables are targeted at ensuring the supplier
follows a process that dovetails into, and supports the requirements of
the product development process. There is little point in a business
operating a product delivery process internally to ensure their products
are delivered to the highest standards if any bought in parts and
materials are not to the same high standard.
The
process starts from product concept and continues through the product
development activities and ends when the product is in full scale
production.
The supplier management training course
This one day on-site supplier management training course explains how to successfully operate the supplier management process.
The intent of this and all our training courses is not to tell or show
the trainees what to do but to impart the capability to perform the
required tasks. There is no limit to the number of trainees but we
strongly recommend no more than 5 individuals attend per course. We find
that if there are any more than this the training becomes ineffective
and wasteful.
This
course is targeted at the product design engineers, the manufacturing
engineers and the programme managers delivering new products. This
training course is given in English. All our courses are designed to be
informal and are based around a series of discussions and practical
exercises.
Another great training course from Product Development Consultants
